1

Be Mature

The very first of my tips for dating in your 40s that I'm going to talk about is being mature. Ladies, you are a bit older, this is a mature relationship and you should act like it – just like your man should. This isn't all about crushes and high school flirting, this is serious! That doesn't mean that you shouldn't flirt though, shouldn't play some of the games, but you always want to be mature about it!

2

Live in the Real World

One of the biggest problems that a lot of women have after their teens is that they still want someone that is going to be God-like in their looks and personality. Ladies, you don't ever have to settle for someone that isn't your type, but you also have to be realistic in what you're looking for and who is out there.

3

Your Own Age

Now, this is one tip that a lot of people might not agree with, but it is important to consider – do you want someone that is established? Someone that has a lot of life experiences? Someone that has maybe been through a lot of different relationships already? This could actually be someone your own age. Remember, experience comes with age.

4

Take It Slow

When you are re-learning how to date in your 40s, it's important to remember that you should be taking everything slower. You don't want to rush into a relationship and, in turn, rush into a marriage, that won't work or be smart. Remember, taking things slower allows you more time to really get to know the man!

5

Don't Settle

When you are attempting to date in your 40s, the first relationship that you feel comfortable with and want to jump into, might seem the 'the one,' but you always want to remember, don't settle ladies. Why settle when someone else could be perfect for you? Never, ever settle.

Famous Quotes

Men in general judge more from appearances than from reality. All men have eyes, but few have the gift of penetration.

Set Expectations High

In your 40s, paired along with the not settling are your expectations. They should be set a little higher. You want someone that is going to be stable and someone that is going to be there for you, no matter what. You also want someone that is established and someone that has a good job – no, a good career. Remember that!

7

Watch Your Own Baggage

While you want to set your expectations high, you also want to remember your own baggage. You might be clinging to a divorce or even just a bad relationship. You might have kids or even grand kids. Remember, both of you might have a lot to deal with when you get together.

8

Don't Be Angry

Just because you might have had a bad relationship or two in your lifetime, that doesn't mean that every single guy is horrible and every single guy is a jerk. You've got to get out of that mentality, ladies. If you let go of that anger, you'll definitely experience a lot more!

9

Be a Lady

Finally, the last tip for dating in your 40s that I have is to be a lady. You've taken care of yourself for a long time and you might just be fine being single, that doesn't mean that you need to have that 'I don't need a man' mantra anymore. Let him into your life and let him take care of you sometimes!

Dating in your 40s can be really scary in the beginning, but that doesn't mean that you shouldn't do it! Just remember these tips for dating in your 40s! So, what other tips do you have? Give 'em up!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

Many of us guys are very sensitive about being on the receiving end of a woman in 40s who's had previous bad relationships. The minute I feel she is comparing me to the past negativity in her life (whatever that may be), i'm outta there. I don't judge on mileage, rather the wear and tear of the mileage :)
