Need help understanding her perspective?

My best friend came to me today and told me about what is going on with her ex.He has hurt her once before .She more or less knows he likes her a lot more now(she’s confused). She lands up spending a day with him and stops talking to him after (She kisses him though he is dating someone else).She tells me she was making happy memories whats the point of making happy memories when she doesn’t wanna see him anytime soon.Need help understanding her.She is my best friend and if i cant understand her then how can i help her :/
