3. Wear Clothes That Reflect You
Getting dressed up for a date doesn't have to be all about the makeup and the heels and accessories if that's not what you're into personally. According to Carolyn, dressing in clothes that reflect you can majorly help you to feel more relaxed and comfortable on your first date. That being said, it's still good to make an effort so you might not want to go as far as wearing your trackies or your Ugg boots!
4. Keep It Easy and Simple
When it comes to fashion, less is more! This might not always be true when it comes to first dates, but it can still be a good way to go if you're still not sure of what to wear. In this case,
keeping it easy and simple means minimising accessories and jewellery so that there's not too much going on. This is especially good advice if you want your outfit to be the first thing he notices when he sees you!
5. Change It up for the Second Date
So assuming your first date goes great and there's plans to meet up again for a second date, it's time to change it up outfit-wise! Carolyn advises that you choose a location or venue that's a bit different from the location and/or attire for the first date. This will allow you to easily change up your fashion approach and show off any dressier clothes that you look super fab in!
6. Think Casual when Meeting the Friends
It's not always easy to know what to wear when meeting his friends, but Carolyn suggests that it's best to stick to casual pieces that are easy to move around in. A couple of examples of these might be a loose fitted blouse, a skater dress or a throw-on maxi! Remember that meeting his friends is usually more casual than meeting his parents, so save your dressier clothes for the latter!
7. Think Smart when Meeting the Parents
You might be totally stumped as to what to wear when you meet his parents: you want to make a good impression while still not going OTT! If in doubt you should aim to look smart and sophisticated, according to Carolyn, although it does depend on where you're meeting them. If in a smart-casual venue, jeans with a shirt and heels can be a great way to go. On the other hand, if it's more formal you could opt for a jumpsuit or a modest midi dress!
