7 Reasons Why Girls Should Wait to Get a Boyfriend ...

A lot of teenagers don't understand why girls should wait to get a boyfriend. You get TV shows like 'Young and Married' nowadays which are just so ridiculous. Why are people in such a rush? The days of forced/planned marriages are over! The reasons why girls should wait to get a boyfriend are just obscure to some people, but to others, they're perfectly sensible.

It's a Waste of Time

When you think about it, how many relationships that start in high school, middle school or even elementary school, actually last? I think this is a pretty legit reason why girls should wait to get a boyfriend. YOLO, right? So why waste your time on something that isn't going to last? Especially when you yourself know very well that it has no future. I've had friends like that.

2

It's a Waste of Money

If a relationship is hardly going to last, you're basically blowing money on stuff like gifts and dates. How many teenagers can actually say that they don't get most of their money from their parents? I mean it can be fun to spend money that isn't yours, but it doesn't feel good knowing you wasted your parents' hard earned money.

3

Prioritize

There are so many other things to focus on rather than worrying all the time about whether you have a boyfriend or not. I'm pretty sure being a student means you should study. And that's what most girls are right now, students. I personally think that education is more important than relationship status. In some cases, having or obsessing over having a boyfriend will not affect your studies, but for most it will. Are you sure you're able to juggle family, friends, education and a boyfriend simultaneously right now?

4

Boys Are Less Mature than Girls

No offense to boys, but it's a fact. Boys tend to 'man up' later than girls. Even puberty strikes girls earlier. Dating a guy similar in age would be like dating a person much younger than yourself, and you want to be his girlfriend, not his mom, whereas dating a guy much older when you're still in like high school just seems wrong.

5

Immaturity

That is not an insult. It's just that there's so much more to find out about yourself and the whole world that's ahead of you. Are you sure you understand 'love' as well as you think you do? Are you really ready to take on the responsibility of loving someone? You're still young, there's plenty of time. You don't have to start searching for your soul mate now.

Emotional Burden

Relationships aren't just all about romance. They can be a real pain. Being in a relationship is like giving the other person the power to crush you whenever they want to. Heartbreaks hurt, or you may find yourselves being jealous or fighting with each other constantly. Is it worth going through all that for something that probably won't last?

7

Uncertainty

How do you know that what you're feeling is really 'love'? It might be that you're just feeling that way because you're at a phase where you're just really desperate for a boyfriend. It's not a sin, it happens, especially at that certain time of the month. Just learn how to identify it so you don't get stuck with someone you actually don't love.

Obviously, I don't believe in teenage relationships. Maybe it's the whole environment I grew up in where my friends had to date in discretion. But I believe that true love waits. If he's really the one for you, he'll respect your decision and be patient. What do you guys think?

I don't even have a little sister

I'll be turning 22 in March 2014. I've never had a boyfriend. One of the main reasons why that is, is due to the fact that almost all the guys I have ever met in my entire life have had their heads up their butts.

I also think it's quite patronising to teenagers; emotions felt by teenagers are no less valid than by older people

I have boyfriend and I'm %100 sure it's love I feel, he's amazing so I think we'll work out, and he makes me happy - That's the main thing, right? :)

I actually make my own money because I work

I agree

I'm sorry all the guys just like me

How are you supposed to identify the qualities you admire and desire within people if you don't get out on the market early and experiment? I'd rather waste my time now than my time later in a relationship when I'm wanting to settle down and I figure out that my partner and I aren't compatible. This sounds like 1960's biblical "wait till you're married to have sex and only if you're going to have children, wait on your mans hands and knees until you die" approach.
