If you’re new to the dating scene, or have been away from the dating world for awhile, take some notes of these easy ways to start dating without making it feel like a chore. I've also given you some helpful things to remember along the way. I know dating is scary after being single for a while. I’ve been single longer than I care to admit, but mainly because it was my choice. If you’re divorced, I can give you some hope in that area too. My mom found herself divorced after age 40 and felt hopeless, until she started doing something about it. I learned so much from her, and know that any woman out there, no matter your age or circumstance, can jump right back into the dating world. Check out these easy ways to start dating again and take baby steps. Every little bit helps, and most of these, as you’ll see, are things all of us can do with a little bravery up our sleeves!

1

Put Yourself out There

First things first: if you want to learn the best ways to start dating again, you’ve got to begin with the most important which is to put yourself out there. Get out of your house because Prince Charming isn’t going to ride up on your stoop someday deary! Go out for coffee with friends, and spark up a conversation with other people. Join clubs, visit your bookstore and browse for a while. Join a gym and ask a friend to come with you. Go to a local concert you enjoy. All of these things are great ways to meet people. Church events, work events or community events could be a way you meet someone.

2

Ask Your Friends

If your friends are as great enough to be friends with you, then chances are, they might know someone who would be a perfect fit for you. Let them know you’re looking for a relationship. Sometimes, meeting new people this way is the best way to start the dating process to make things less scary. If nothing else, you’ve got an easy first conversation piece to spark up with someone you’re introduced through. You can talk about how you met your friend and go from there. This lightens the mood and helps you feel more relaxed.

3

Give It Time

You’ve got to put yourself out there when starting to date again, but you’ve also got to be patient. You might not happen to find the right one overnight, but that doesn’t mean it won’t happen. Give it time, and in the meantime, just keep your focus on looking for someone that’s right for you and has your values. Then, just be patient. He will come along and will be worth the wait!

4

Stand Your Ground

When you’re new to the dating scene, whatever you do, don’t give up your values. Remember things that are important to you and stand your ground. Never sacrifice your morals or personal beliefs to make someone else happy. That’s not smart and it’s not going to do you any favors later. If someone doesn’t accept you for you, then you don’t need them anyway!

5

Be Choosy

While no one is perfect, you should remember to be choosy when starting to date again. Don’t date someone just to have a partner, but instead, be choosy! You deserve to find a guy who won’t only treat you right, but is truly the one you want. It’s fine if he’s not perfect in all areas of his life, but be sure he’s someone you feel secure with on all levels, and that you aren’t just being desperate or needy.

More than Money

Whatever you do, don’t get desperate and tell yourself you’ve got to have a millionaire to be happy, or to get you out of a financial hole. Yes, a man can help financially contribute to your relationship and lifestyle, but you should never date someone so they can financially provide for you. Men don’t appreciate this, and most of the time, you’ll regret it later anyway. If you happen to find a man you truly love who is rich, fine, but be sure you have all your finances in place so you can take care of yourself if ever you need to. That’s a gift no amount of money from a man could ever buy you!

7

Challenges You

Look for someone that challenges you in a relationship - in a good way, that is. The person you date should be such a good person that they make you want to be a better person. They should tell you if you’re taking part in harmful behavior, and they should challenge you to go for your dreams. They shouldn’t pressure you to do anything if you don’t want to, but when starting to date again, look for someone that you can see helping to better you as a person and make you happy. This is one thing many women look over, but is very important.

If you’re new to the dating scene again, or going for it for the first time, be proud of yourself! You’ll be just fine and sometimes, you just gotta jump in with cold feet and go for it! Do you have a tip for anyone starting to date again, or for the first time?

I am 25 years old and I also have commitment issues. I was in a relationship few years ago and was really hurt. And I've been running away from the dating scene ever since. I can't find someone I actually like and I feel like I'm " settling" if I do. Now that I'm ready to put myself out there, I can't find anyone I like!
