Go for a Walk

Going for a walk can be very helpful when you feel an argument may be looming. Going for a walk is helpful in several ways. It gives you time to clear your head. Walking is also a good mood booster. By the time you return from your walk, whatever you were tempted to argue over may not be a temptation anymore. This makes walking one of the best alternatives to arguing.

2

Vent to a Girlfriend

Sometimes you’re steamed at your boyfriend about something and you need to get it off your chest. He actually may not be the best one to do that with. If you still want to, you can talk to him later about the issue, but sometimes it’s helpful to vent to a girlfriend first. This lets you get all your stressful emotions out in the open. You’ll feel a lot better and probably realize it wasn’t a big issue after all. Sometimes other stressful things in your life can make a small issue with your boyfriend seem bigger than it actually is.

3

Think about It First

A very wise friend of mine shared this thought with me. When you’re upset with your guy, it can be helpful to think about the issue for a day before saying anything to him. If you’re still upset after that, you probably need to address the issue, even if it means an argument. But a lot of times you’ll realize that the issue isn’t important or understand his point of view after thinking about it. This is a good way to figure out what is and isn’t worth confronting him over.

4

Lighten the Mood

Sometimes, there’s no need for an argument but one occurs because you’re both in a bad mood. Being in a bad mood isn’t worth having an argument over. If this is what’s going on with you and your boyfriend, try to lighten the mood. Crack a joke or take time to watch a show that always makes you laugh. If an argument is going to happen, make sure it’s over something other than the fact that you’re crabby.

5

Keep Calm and Carry on

You know, there are things that need to be dealt with in a relationship. That’s completely normal. But dealing with them doesn’t have to become an argument. Deal with issues with the goal of talking through them. When both of you agree to discuss something rather than argue, things can go a lot smoother.

Reframe the Situation

It’s good to think about whatever you’re upset over from a different angle. Men and women think very differently. Allow for the possibility that you may not understand your boyfriend’s motives. Whatever he did probably wasn’t done to intentionally hurt you. This can help you to avoid a lot of hurt and sadness.

7

Let It Go

A lot of things aren’t worth an argument. It’s true that some things are. But letting the little stuff go can bring more peace into your relationship. It’s all about choosing your battles. If you only bring up the true issues, your boyfriend will probably be more likely to listen and compromise.

These are 7 alternatives to arguing. Which one do you think will help you the most? You’re welcome to share your comments.

What also can help is to think about all the nice things he does for you (hopefully he does or you have a whole other issue at hand) and think about good times you've had together, it will make you look at him in a more positive light.

I'm going to use this advice for me and my bestfriend lol

Sometimes you can't physically walk away from a situation, so what I tend to do is to choose silence, until my partner's crabby mood has subsided, and he is now ready to listen to my side.

Its always best to think it a thousand times over b4 u decide to drop words and decisions
