Relationship Fighting sucks. Face it, being in a fight with your spouse is a horrible feeling. Did you know that there are ways to overcome relationship fighting? I've got your back ladies! Below, I've come up with 8 awesome ways to overcome relationship fighting!
1. Keep Emotions in Check
I am a huge sniper. I am one of the ones that will strike out first at the Better Half. When you are going through relationship fighting, you want to make sure that you keep your snippy side in check. After all, you do love your spouse, you just might not be happy with them at that moment.
It doesn't matter what you are fighting about, whenever you are having constant relationship fighting, you want to make sure that you are compromising. Ladies, I have a huge problem with this one. I'm stubborn – and have a had time compromising on anything, but trust me – it makes a huge difference!
3. Understand Each Other
It might be hard to place yourself in your partner's shoes when you are fighting, but it's worth it. Just try to understand where they are coming from. Typically, in relationship fighting, the place that your spouse is coming from is a place of love.
4. Don't Bring up the past
This is the biggest mistake that many women and men make – bringing up the past. If you are in a committed and long relationship, you're going to have a past. When you're fighting? Don't bring it up!
I can't tell you how many times I don't listen to my spouse in a fight. Open up your ears and shut your mouth once in a while in a fight. I promise it'll make all of the different!
6. Both People Matter
Neither opinion should overshadow the other person's opinion. It doesn't matter who is right or who is wrong, you have to remember that you are dealing with someone you love. Keep in mind – your spouse is still a person, even if you are fighting.
7. Don't Interrupt
I'm totally guilty of trying to get my opinion across first. If you are in a fight, remember to be respectful, don't interrupt your partner when they are speaking. Even in relationship fighting, you will want to be respectful.
8. Speak Calmly
Yelling and screaming most of the time does nothing. I know in my fights, it usually just makes it last longer. So keep your voice calm and you'll see a huge difference.
Dealing with relationship fighting is just part of being in a relationship. That doesn't mean that relationship fighting has to be horrible – there are ways to fight. What techniques do you use to put out the argument? Any tips I can use? Come on ladies!
