1

Create a Balanced Visiting Schedule

If you are going to different colleges, that's okay! You just want to make sure that you have balanced visiting schedules. It should never be you going to see him all of the time – or vice versa. It should be a balance and blend between both of you. This is one of the many college relationship tips that a lot of couples take for granted. It shouldn't always be on the guy to come see you, girls!

2

Prioritize Schoolwork

Even though you are in a relationship, that doesn't mean that you need to start neglecting your schoolwork, in fact, you want to make sure that you are prioritizing your schoolwork! After all, that is why you're in college, right? If your boyfriend is heading to a party the night before a big test? It might be better for you to stay in a study … and if he's a good guy, he will stay with you.

3

Open & Honest

Girls, always be open and honest with your guy. If your college relationship isn't working, you need to tell him. You can't be in a relationship and be completely taken if you really want to experience college as someone single. Just because you are apart, going to different colleges doesn't mean that you aren't in a relationship.

4

Don't over-Share

While you need to be open and honest in your relationship, there are some things that you don't want to share – typically things you do with your roommates if you have them. So your roommate had a party with a lot of hot guys in your apartment? Why tell him about that – unless you went to the party.

5

Think before Texting

In college, it can be extremely stressful for anyone. You are dealing with schoolwork, being away from home for the first time, a job – if you have one – as well as your relationship. That's a lot to deal with! So before you start to text your boyfriend all about your stress and put it on him, think about the stress that he's under too.

Manage Your Expectations

While it's okay to have some expectations in a relationship, you can't expect the world, especially when you are in college. You can't expect your boyfriend to give you a call after every class or to have every single weekend free. You've got to be able to manage your expectations so that you don't get hurt.

7

Don't Force a Relationship

Remember when I said that you need to be open and honest? Well girls, if you feel like your relationship is just an obligation instead of a real relationship, you've got to break it off. Forcing a relationship with a guy that you aren't in love with or maybe don't even like is never, ever going to work.

8

Don't Compare

Finally girls, don't ever compare your boyfriend to an ex or even to a BFF guy friend. It won't work for your guy and it will end up badly all around. I've done this in the past and it always ends badly!

So girls, these are all of my college relationship tips – remember, you are in college, have fun with it! What other tips do you have for those girls in college? Give it up!

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

These are somethings I'm realizing now in my second year of college. My first year was a mess! I had all these expectations, i'd over-share, I'd dump my stresses on him and expect him to be around to listen– I basically did the opposite of everything on this list which resulted in our breakup. we got back together, and this year, i've been pretty good about these things :) (i'm still kind of an over-sharer!)

People have stress in every stage of their lives, probably even more so when they are working. So if you can't share your problems with your significant other, who can you share them with. I think you made relationships in college sound extremely negative, whereas some people don't always want to experience the college life single and can be happy whilst being independent in their relationships

In a couple months this is what I will be going through! It's scary! But you have to remember that at the end if it all works out you will be the happiest you have ever been its an experience that will bring you closer!
