Although it's not true for all millennials, many of us are putting off marriage for longer and longer. Sometimes, we're simply happy in long-term relationships – we just don't need the paper. Plus, of course, a selection of us weren't even able to get married in certain places until quite recently. Then, too, plenty of millennials aren't interested in marriage or serious relationships, preferring instead of focus on school, work, travel, friendship, family, and general self-improvement. The point is, there are excellent reasons why millennials are waiting – and even more than that, there's enough evidence to suggest that millennials might just want to wait until they turn 30 to take a trip down the aisle.
1. It Seems like There Are More Frogs 🐸 than Princes 👑 Today
Just take a look at Tinder, or any female-friendly article on the internet, and you'll see it – to be fair, though, I'm sure that plenty of millennial men feel that way, too.
2. One Word: Savings 💸
The longer you're single, even if it's only a technicality, the more you'll save – which makes those post-marriage tax breaks even sweeter.
3. You Need Time to Explore the World 🏯 🗼 🗽
Like say, lots of millennials want to see the world, experience different cultures, and visit the hot spots on their bucket lists before they settle down.
4. The Older You Are, the More Mature You Are
And, trust me, maturity is really, truly, absolutely, seriously, for really real essential when you get married.
5. You Have a Better Idea of What You Want when You're Older, Too
The flings and whirlwind romances of 20s are sweet, but as time passes, you learn more about what you need … and you discover that the things you need are more important than the things you simply want.
6. The Fairytales 👸🏾 Fall Flat by the Time You're 30 😒
You stop worrying about being swept off your feet and you don't expect to be struck by lightning when you meet The One.
7. Your Professional Life is More on-point
You have a goal, a career path, an occupational trajectory, or an amazing job already, so you aren't worrying about what you're going to be when you grow up.
8. You Actually Have Some Financial Stability 💰
Granted, many of you may reach this wonderful place of peace far earlier than your 30s, but for the most part, once you hit the big 3-0, you've got your money all situated.
9. Those Petty, Nerve-wracking Love Games Are Finally over
Provided you're going out with the right people, of course, and if you're not, you're finally at a place in your life where you can comfortably tell all the headgamers to go suck eggs.
10. You Feel like You're Ready to Settle down
A lot of millennials want to spend their 20s having their own adventures and experiences, so by the time they turn 30, they're ready for something real, deep, and serious.
11. Family Time Becomes Important to You
In the same vein, it's around this time that you'll start to realize how important it is to spend time with your family, friends, and the people you love.
12. Sexually Speaking, You Know Exactly What You Want 😍 🙌 🎆
More importantly, you're not afraid to speak out and let your partners know what you want.
13. Your Priorities Shift as You Age
It's part of the pattern – the things that matter to you change.
14. You Are More Realistic
This, too, is an absolute must for marriage – that first year can do a number on your idealism.
15. You're Still Young Enough to Have Kids 👶
If you choose to have them, of course, and if you choose to have them naturally, then 30 or thereabouts is an ideal spot because you're young, hopefully healthy, and financially stable.
16. You'll Want Culture in Your Honeymoon
Meaning, you may end up spending more on the honeymoon than the wedding, just so you can go somewhere incredible with your new spouse.
