Office Romances PROS CONS ...

By Vanessa

Dating co-workers has always been quite the controversial topic. Some companies allow it with full disclosure to supervisors while other companies have strict policies against it. Honestly, if your relationship isn't affecting your work performance, I feel like you should be allowed to date whomever you please! Like everything, there are pros and cons. Let's talk about some of them!

1 PRO: Proximity

How awesome is it to know that your beau is never too far away? Working in the same building means running into each other in the hallways and feeling like a high school girl who's running into her crush before class. When you need a break from work, you can text him to meet up!

Frequently asked questions

2 PRO: You Already Know Him

Dating your co-worker means you already know a lot about him. You don't have to worry about if he's a womanizer (use office holiday parties as a reference) or how he copes with work stress. You can both vent to each other about your boss and the major workload.

3 PRO: Work-Free Personal Life

Working together means you both already know what happened at work. So, you can make your home life a work-free zone. You'll have more time to talk about the other things you two have in common!

4 CON: Proximity

Yup, you read that right. Proximity can also be a CON when it comes to office romances. What happens when the two of you are in a big fight? Or worse, break up? You'll have to face him everyday, watch him date someone else, and UGH.

5 CON: Competition

What happens if the two of you end up competing for the same projects or promotions? It could cause some serious tension in your relationship because one might end up resenting the other for their newfound success. That's definitely not good.

6 CON: No More Surprises

One of the best phases of a relationship is the one where you discover each other's quirks. If you're spending so much time together on a daily basis, what's left to discover? You already know everything!

So, what do you think about office romances? Does the good outweigh the bad?
