It would be fair to say that there are times when you feel really happy and secure in your relationship, and then there are also times when you feel the exact opposite! All partnerships have their ups and downs, and the most you know and understand about your own situation, the better you will be able to really assess it. Here are seven questions that will give you a real insight into your relationship.
1. How do You Spend Your Free Time?
Have a think about the ways that you both like to spend your free time. If you like to do the same kinds of things, then that’s a good sign, but if your idea of fun and leisure is completely different to his, then that doesn’t really bode well for your future together. You need to be compatible in your interests in order to make things work.
2. What is Your Attachment Style?
For two people to spend the rest of their lives together, they have to be on the same wavelength in terms of the way that they express their affection and attachment. For example, if you are someone who likes to be up close and personal all the time and spend every waking minute together, you need for your partner to feel the same way and not be someone who prefers their own company more than yours!
3. What’s the Most Interesting Thing You’ve Read Lately?
Intellectual compatibility is super important. You want to be able to discuss your passions with your partner, and not have to spend most of your time either explaining things to them or simply not sharing your interests at all because they can’t relate.
4. What Are Your Spiritual Beliefs?
It’s becoming less and less of an issue in this modern world, but you still need to check whether you and your partner hold religious or spiritual beliefs that might be at odds with one another. Faith is something that people take very seriously when they have it, so there needs to be an understanding and compatibility there.
5. What’s Your Sex Drive like?
Sex is an important topic in a relationship, so you will want to find out as early on as possible whether you have a synergy in that department with your partner. If you have sex drives at different ends of the spectrum, it’s only going to cause problems and frustrations.
6. How do You like to Spend Money?
Being financially compatible is also a huge thing to consider. Money causes tension at the best of times, so you want to make sure that you are on the same page in terms of how you like to spend and on what.
7. Can You Depend on Them?
When it really comes down to it, are you confident that you can depend on this person in your most significant times of need? If you don’t think they are the person you would call first in an emergency, then that is extremely telling.
