7 Steps to a Safe Blind Date Night ...

By Rosalina

If you're thinking about going on a blind date, there are some steps to a safe blind date night that I would like to share. Blind dates are great fun and whether you have met someone online through a dating website, through the personals or if someone has 'set you up' on a date with someone they think you'll be perfectly suited to, it's exciting to go and meet them for the first time. Safety is key though, and here are some steps to a safe blind date.

1

Tell Someone

One of the first steps to a safe blind date is letting someone know your plans. Be sure to tell someone where you're going, what time you're meeting them, whom you're meeting and when you're likely to be back. This can be a friend or member of the family but as long as someone knows your plans, they can check in on you later and make sure you're safe. It's also better to meet in a place where there is likely to be lots of people rather than somewhere secluded. Of course, it's just a case of being careful and cautious, not super paranoid, but you can never be too careful.

2

Calm Nerves Naturally

If you're feeling a little nervous, avoid the alcohol, as this can lead you to be out of control when really you need to be totally IN control. Try breathing deeply or spraying a little rescue remedy on your tongue to calm your nerves naturally rather than opting for the 'dutch courage,' which could mean you end up doing or saying something you later regret.

3

Trust Your Instincts

If you have any doubts or suspicions then don't ignore them. It's best to listen to your gut if you feel something isn't quite right rather than going along with it just because you're afraid of being alone for another few months.

4

Don't Pin All Your Hopes

Dating is fun, so rather than planning your wedding on the way to your blind date, it's best to take it step by step and let each moment unfold, without pinning all your hopes on this one person. Just enjoy it and whatever happens, happens!

5

Take It Slow

Ok, this may divide readers as there are many happy couples who are still together to this day after having, you know, done the deed on the first date. I don't judge. If it feels right and you're absolutely comfortable with it then be sure to use protection. But in all honesty, this is probably best left for a few more dates down the line, when you know each other better. After all, what else is there to look forward to otherwise?

Famous Quotes

To give oneself earnestly to the duties due to men, and, while respecting spiritual beings, to keep aloof from them, may be called wisdom.

Don't Divulge Too Much

It's best not to give out too much personal information (like where you live and other personal details) on your first date. If they're the right person for you then they will stick around long enough to find this out and will be happy to wait until you feel ready to tell them your personal information.

7

Enjoy

Obviously, the key to a great blind date is to relax and enjoy yourself. It's only a date and the less pressure you put on yourself, the other person and the situation, the more likely you are to enjoy it for what it is.

These are my tips for a safe and secure blind date night. Which are yours?
