7 Things to Never Say on a First Date ...

Whether you’re a dating newbie or seasoned pro, you’ve probably heard that there are things not to say on a first date! Oftentimes, gals slip up on that vital meet up because of a few questions they should’ve saved for later (in some cases, much later). So, I’ve put together a list of 7 topics you should avoid delving into the first time you go out with Mr. Right –or Mr. Right Now. After all, you want to ask the right question on a first date right? So girls, without anymore excuses, let's explore my top 7 things not to say on a first date! Good luck, ladies!

1. How Many Girls Have You Slept with?

(Your reaction) Thank you!

One of the most important things not to ask about on a first date is the number of girls your potential new guy has either dated or slept with. Though it might become your business in the future (like when you discuss the topic of STDs), now’s not the time to give him the third degree. It's the first date after all! You don't want to grill the man and make him think that you are too intense. Lighten up, if you get ready to have sex with him, that's the time for this question!

2. You’re so Much Better than My Ex

(Your reaction) Thank you!

How would you feel if a guy told you this on any date, let alone the very first one? I’d probably “accidentally” drop my drink in his lap, and I’m sure many of you would do the same. So, save the drama and avoid talking exes, dysfunctional family members, and former friends. You’ll thank me once he asks for date number two. This is another 'thing never to say on a first date' that will totally earn you that second date!

3. How Much Money do You Make?

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Another thing never to ask about on a first date is how much cash he has to throw around. While it’s good to go out with someone who shares similar career goals, his salary is none of your business. Instead of talking cold hard cash, ask him about his passions and dreams. That’ll give you a more accurate picture of the guy you could end up in a relationship with or not!

4. Your Friend is so Cute

(Your reaction) Thank you!

In terms of things not to say on a first date, dishing about how hot his best pal is or how you can’t stop staring at the cutie in chem class is pretty high on the list. It’ll make him super jealous (and not in a good way!). Plus, you’ll look disrespectful and even heartless and I know you’re so much better than that. So girls, if you think that anyone else is hot, save that chatter for your girl talk with your besties, not for your first date!

5. Let’s Go out Again…tomorrow

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Uttering this will make you seem (a) desperate and (b) needy. And that isn’t attractive in anyone, male or female. Other topics to avoid: love, moving in together, marriage, and babies. While I have faith that none of you would ever show off your wedding scrapbook to a new man, even mentioning these subject matters could instantly turn a guy off. Eek!

6. Are You a Republican?

(Your reaction) Thank you!

If you want to open a can of worms (yuck), ask him about politics or religion. You don’t want your first date to turn into a debate club meet, do you? Instead, keep the conservation light and easy by discussing your lives, interests, or the book you just finished. Asking about what party he is or even who he voted for in the last election isn't a good idea ladies!

7. You Should Come Home with Me

(Your reaction) Thank you!

Typically, you shouldn’t end a first date by asking him to take you home and spend the night. If you’re looking for a steady relationship, going at it too soon can earn you a spot in the casual hookup zone. So, unless you want a quick fling, make him wait. It'll work out much better in the future girls!

So there you have it! These are 7 of the top things not to say on a first date. Do you agree with my advice? What would you add to the list? Have you ever had any goofs and said any of these on the first date? Share all of your experience below!
