Need Help Choosing between Your Heart and Your Head? ...

By Holly

Choosing between your heart and your head can be difficult when you're deciding which path to take in life. Maybe you're trying to decide if your true love would be a good husband. Maybe you're wondering if you should follow your dream of becoming an singer or go to medical school. Either way, choosing between your heart and your head is a major decision that you need to think through. Here are some things to take into consideration when doing so:

1

Danger

It's tempting to follow your heart, but if it's telling you to do something dangerous, ignore it. Some people continue to love their abusive partners, even though they know the smart thing to do is get out of the relationship. When choosing between your heart and your head, remember that you shouldn't do anything that will put your life in danger.

2

Consequences

Think about the consequences of each option you have. Choosing a singing career over a medical degree could leave you unemployed, so you have to ask yourself if you're willing to take that risk. If you'd be just as happy being a doctor, follow that path. But if you know you'd hate your life and yourself if you didn't follow your dreams, you're going to have to go with your heart. Choose whichever choice provides you with consequences you could live with.

3

Second Opinions

If you ask your family members and friends what you should do in any given situation, they're most likely going to tell you to go with your head. That's because they can see what the "smart" choice is, but they don't have the same passion and feelings that you do, so they can't fully understand your "heart's" choice. This type of decision you need to make on your own.

4

Combination

In certain situations, you don't actually have to choose between your heart and your head. You could take night classes for your degree, but rent a studio to make a record in during the day. If you can make both your "head" and your "heart" decisions work, then try to balance them.

5

Temporary

The "intelligent" thing to do will probably remain the same for years, so you should ask yourself if your heart's decision will change somewhere down the line. You might not want to drop out of school to focus on your singing if you're not 100% sure you'll still want to be a singer in a few months. If you follow your heart, make sure it's not being fickle.

Happiness

Happiness is the end goal, so think about what's most important to you. What do you want to get out of life? What can't you imagine your life without? The more questions you ask yourself, the more you'll learn about what you need.

7

Trust

Once you make your decision, be proud of it. Don't let others make you feel bad about what you decided to do. It's your life, so it's up to you to pick what you want to do with it. Their opinions don't matter, so be happy about your final decision.

Big life decisions are stressful, so think over your options before you come to a conclusion. There's no harm in thinking it over for a while. What's the biggest choice that you've ever had to make?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

The reason why people are always heartbroken by friends and love interests is that they fail to understand the difference between love and trust. To sum it up, love is a gift we give freely without conditions, while trust is earned! Protect yourself by giving people only the trust they earn but love them dearly, you will never be hurt and people will respect you more!

Dating a Married man? Trust will always be an issue, even if he leaves her for you! Best to date other people and keep your options open...after-all isn't that what he's doing?
