Every couple goes through some stages and do the below romance killers without even knowing it. It may not be the early ‘honeymoon’ stages anymore, when you can’t keep your hands off each other, but there are ways to keep the romance alive. If you feel the spice between you two is fading, the below reasons could be why. Read the below romance killers and see if you do any of them…
1. Talking Negative about Yourself
No boyfriend likes to hear his girl talk down about herself, and I say this has to be the biggest of all the romance killers. What girls don’t seem to understand is that he is with you for a reason, regardless of how you see yourself. He loves and thinks you are sexy, so go with it! Next time you two are about to get down and dirty, lead the way. Show him who’s boss.
2. Wearing Flannel Onesy to Bed
This is so not cute. I don’t care how long you have been with the guy, they still like to see a little something. Not too much, but just enough to have him dreaming about you all night. Trying wearing booty shorts and a tight tank to bed and you are sure to get some action. Let his hands wander throughout his sleep and feel your booty in those hot undies!
3. Checking Your Phone
If it is getting hot between the two of you on his couch and your phone goes off, PLEASE ignore it! I mean if you want to stop any sexiness that will happen, then yes go ahead and answer it. Consider his feelings and how that would make him feel. This would seem that whoever is on the other line is more important than him, which is not a good feeling regardless of how long you've been together.
4. Talking about Your Ex
Ladies, I’m sure you wouldn't want to hear your boyfriend talk about his ex, so don’t do this to him… EVER! (Unless of course he asks!) If you two are sitting down for a romantic meeting or date night, don’t bring up anything to do with your ex. This will not end well. I promise!
5. Letting Yourself Go
I know this is something that some people do in a long term relationship, but just don’t. Again, there is a reason he is with you (and yes "physical" is in that category) so try to keep that spice there. This isn’t all physical. If you two loved to do a certain thing together when you met, make sure to still do this once in a while. Keep your spirits close and remind each other why you feel in love in the first place.
Do you come home and throw on that baggy t-shirt and his soccer shorts? Do you hide in your phone when he gets home instead of asking how his day was? This screams laziness and can be a huge romance killer. Looking like this of course won't make him leave you, but spice it up and shock him by wearing something sexy while making dinner.
7. Always Talking about Your Social Life
Are you always complaining about the latest drama within your friends group? Not to be rude, but chances are he doesn't care. Don’t bore him with all this drama when you two could be working on each other. If he is always spending his time listening to your drama and cleaning up your tears, he won’t have any energy left for the romance.
Of course your boyfriend will be there for you if you need to vent, but that doesn't mean unload. It's not going to keep the romance going if you just are always venting and complaining. Don't treat every little thing like it's the end of the world! Yes you want to vent to your boyfriend, that's what he's there for, and of course he'll listen, but keep it under control.
9. Getting Too Comfortable
Remember when you guys used to go out and have fun? If you have noticed that it's started to slow down, this could cause a problem. If you and your significant other have started getting to comfortable doing nothing at home together all the time, it's going to get boring. Boredom is probably the worst romance killer there is.
Stop arguing over everything! There are times that he's going to do little things that annoy you and you'll annoy him too, but you don't need to fight over everything. Sometimes you just have to let things roll off your back. Pick your battles! There are some things that are worth arguing over, but there are also times when you're just in a bad mood. As frustrating as it might be, it'll blow over.
11. Turning on the TV at Awkward Times
This is probably something that guys do more often than women, but that doesn't mean we're not guilty of it every so often. It doesn't matter what the situation is whether you're fighting, having a deep talk, or having a moment between the two of you, don't turn on the TV at inappropriate times. Maybe you just realized that your show is on and you forgot to DVR it, or maybe the Oscars are on and you just HAVE to watch them, that doesn't mean anything! When you're in the middle of a moment you should stay in the moment. The TV will still be there when it's over.
I can honestly say I might have done all of the above before, but I smartened up! Listen to me ladies, I promise the above are huge romance killers and can break up a relationship. Which of the above are you guilty of? Any other romance killers that we could all learn from?
