It’s good to know a few ways to keep your relationship alive. Even if you aren’t having “troubles” in the love department, you can save yourself from ever going through them by putting out a little bit of effort each day! But if things have gone from BANG to BLAH, then here are a few things you can do and ways to keep your relationship alive. Keep on reading to get the bang back in the boom!
1. Make Dinner an Affair
One of the best ways to keep your relationship alive is to show your significant other that they are worth putting on a spread for. Instead of ordering takeout and eating in front of the TV for mid-week supper, why not whip up some pasta and veggies and a nice salad and actually sit down at the table? Talk about your day, and enjoy a peaceful evening together.
2. Have Conversations like You Used to
Remember back when your relationship was in its beginning phases? You used to sit for hours and just discuss things like your dreams, your goals, things you have done in the past and things you want to do in the future. You probably even told each other your favorite qualities in the other person. Why not talk like that now? It never pays to get “too” comfortable with each other!
3. Put Effort into Your Appearance
You don’t need to dress to the nines every day, but putting a little effort into your appearance when you’re out and about together won’t hurt anything. Even if you’re just lounging at home on a day off, slip into some yoga pants and a fitted tee instead of your oversized sweatshirt from high school. Making yourself attractive for each other is never a bad idea!
4. Kiss Goodbye Every Day
Get in the habit to kiss goodbye every day, even if it’s just a quick peck. For that matter, get in the habit of kissing good night, good morning, and good luck. You can never kiss too much!
5. Compliment Each Other in Public
Compliment your sweetheart in public. For that matter, brag on him or her to your friends, in front of them! You don’t need to over-do it, or lay it on too thickly, but letting each other know that you are proud and lucky to be together will pay off.
6. Mix up Date Night
Maybe you like tradition, and tradition likes you. That’s all fine and dandy, but be spontaneous occasionally! Instead of your regular dinner and a movie, how about going to the fair one night? Or maybe you could try out bowling together! What about stargazing in your nearby park? Mix it up and do something out of the ordinary!
7. Do Something out of Your Comfort Zone
Just once, try doing something out of your comfort zone. If your boyfriend wants you to sing karaoke, go for it! Has your girlfriend asked you to shave your goatee? Try it just once! You never know, you just might like it. And by giving something you aren’t a fan of just one try for your significant other, you are showing that you do care about their feelings and desires too.
Keeping your relationship alive is definitely work, but it’s certainly not boring. Make time for love in your life! If things have gotten to a point where you are just going through the motions, it’s time to put a stop to that right now. Use these tips to get things back to when they used to be sizzling and spicy! Which one do you plan to try out first?
