Have you recently been in a slump, feeling like you are fed up with your own body? Sometimes it’s hormones, sometimes it’s those few extra pounds that you have amassed over the years, but whatever it is, there’s no denying that not being happy with your physical body is a real bummer. If you let it go on for too long then it can actually turn in to a much bigger problem for your mental health, so the best thing to do is make a commitment to getting yourself in a better place. Here are some ways to feel good in your body that you can start implementing today.
It’s the most obvious fix to the problem. Not only does exercise result in things like weight loss and a more toned, lean physique, it also helps you in a mental sense because the endorphins that get released from strenuous activity will make you feel euphoric and positive.
2. Diet Change
Try to focus on eating foods that are not going to make you feel full, heavy and bloated. This means avoiding junk and processed products and sticking to light meals that mostly involve fresh fruits and vegetables. It also helps to graze on small amounts throughout the day rather than sitting down and have a big meal all in one go, that’s a sure-fire for your body not to feel so great.
3. Self Focus
Try not to continually compare yourself to other people around you, because this is a destructive atmosphere to cultivate. You will always find the things in others that you wish you had yourself, and this type of attitude will only serve to further make you hate your own body. Instead, pay attention to the parts of yourself that you like, and work on accentuating them in your style and looks.
You would be amazed by just how much better you can feel if you work on achieving a super strong posture. Walking around and sitting at work slumped all day can create a really negative body language that converts to how you feel about yourself, but if you work on getting those shoulders up that chest out, you really will start to feel better and you will notice that people approach and treat your differently compared to before.
There are so many body issues that can be solved just by being properly hydrated. When you aren’t drinking enough water, it can feel like nothing feels right, and you will often mistake thirst for hunger and overeat as a result. Commit to drinking the recommended amount of water per day and you will definitely start to feel lighter and more energised.
6. Name One Thing
Start out the road to body positivity by naming one thing that you like about your body. If you have to try to think of a different thing every single day, then you will hopefully realise that you are naming more and more areas you like, far more than areas that you don’t!
