One of the most annoying and detrimental parts about being in love with someone is that it can really mess with the connection between your heart and your head. What I’m saying is, that we don’t always fall for the people who are the most suited to us, or the people who treat us well. If you have found yourself in a partnership that your head is telling you is toxic, but your heart is having trouble letting go of your feelings for them, then you owe it to yourself to let your head win out. Here are some ways to let go of a toxic relationship when you’re still in love.

1. Ask Yourself

You need to ask yourself, on a scale of one to ten, are you really ready to do this? If you are reading this article, then the answer is going to be closer to ten than to one, and sometimes it can be something as simple as actually saying it out loud and coming to terms with it that can spur you to make the final decision. Feeling ready is one thing, but BEING ready is another. You need to make sure you have plans and people in place to help you remove yourself from the situation.

2. Block Him

Once you have made the big jump and left the relationship, make sure to block him on all and every social media and communication platform that you have. The nature of a toxic relationship means that you are going to be tempted to go back at times, so removing his ability to contact you is going to be really helpful for keeping the two of you apart.
