I love all of these ideas to remind your partner you love them. It’s the little things in life that really matter, and the tiny reminders that you’re loved that keep a smile on your face all day long. My husband and I have always left little surprise notes for each other. We both adore those small tokens of affection and look forward to finding a new one every once in a while. Use some of these ideas to remind your partner you love them and they are likely to leave a few for you in return!
1 Mirror Messages
This is one of my all time favorite ideas to remind your partner you love them. When I’m getting ready in the morning or preparing for bed at night I love looking up at the mirror and seeing the sweet little messages my husband leaves me. You can get really creative with this and draw fancy pictures if you’re artistic. Use any dry erase markers or buy some window chalk. You can also incorporate window clings/decals if you want to.

Leaving mirror messages is a beautiful way to start your day with a smile and a heart full of love. It's like having a personal love note that's both intimate and surprising. The beauty of mirror notes is that they can be changed up as often as you like. Whether it's a simple 'I love you' or a more intricate 'Good luck on your presentation today!', these messages can set the tone for a positive day. And when the time comes to erase it, the anticipation of what the next message will hold adds an exciting element to your daily routine.
Frequently asked questions
2 Post-It Notes
You can leave a Post-It note here or there for your sweetie or you can go above and beyond and take a whole pad of Post Its and write out all the reasons you love your partner, one reason on each piece of paper. Leave the Post-Its stuck all over a wall or a door so that when they come home there is a giant colorful surprise waiting for them!
3 Scavenger Hunt
Send your special someone on a mini scavenger hunt around your home or go big and lead them all around the city to your favorite spot. Write little clues that will lead them from one place to another on note cards or scrapbook paper. Some fun ideas of places to lead them to are the bed or shower if you’re keeping it centered around where you live, or the place you had your first kiss or first date if you’re making it a city-wide event.

At home, you can create little clues that will lead your partner from one place to another. You can lead them to the bed, the shower, or any other special place in your home. If you want to make it a city-wide event, you can lead them to the place you had your first kiss or your first date.
To make the scavenger hunt even more special, you can write the clues on note cards or scrapbook paper. You can also add special gifts to each clue. This will make the scavenger hunt even more memorable and will show your partner how much you care.
To make the scavenger hunt even more exciting, you can make it a competition. You can even make it a group event and invite your friends and family to join in the fun.
4 Wallet Notes
A lot of gift shops sell prayer and friendship cards and they tend to be a little pricey, in my opinion. My husband was going through a rough time a few years ago when we were dating and I wanted him to have a constant reminder that I was there for him if he needed me. I used a piece of construction paper and wrote a sweet note to him then “laminated” it using packing tape so it would survive getting wet or being shoved around in his wallet. I snuck it in on top of his credit card when he wasn’t looking and he was so happy and surprised when he found it a couple of days later! He still carries it around with him today.
5 Lunch Box Love
This one has to be my all time favorite love reminder. My husband works nights so he comes home about half an hour before the time I would get up for work, when I was working in retail. He would always pack my breakfast for me while I was getting ready and he ALWAYS left me a banana message! I looked forward to opening my bag and discovering the sweet words he had left for me. He wrote on mine with sharpie, but there is an even sneakier way to leave a banana message: Take a toothpick and scratch your message into the banana peel. At first it won’t look like there is anything there, but as the air affects it throughout the day, only the parts that you scratched will turn brown (don’t worry it doesn’t touch the banana inside. So when your honey pulls their lunch out they’ll see your secret message!
When I'm getting his "dinner" ready just before he goes to work at midnight, I write a sweet note on a slip of paper and weave it between the tongs of the fork I send with him. On the busy days when I forget he always texts me asking why he didn't get a note... I love that he looks forward to it!
6 Screensaver
Is your significant other a tech junkie? Try changing their computer background or screen saver to a cute admittance of your love. If they always have their cell phone on them, change their background on it to a picture of the two of you or a super sweet message.
7 Bookmark
My sweetie is an avid reader and he always has a book lying around our apartment. I love to write cute little notes or sometimes a love quote or two and stick it in his book where I know he’s sure to find it. I love that sometimes days will pass then all of a sudden he’ll come into the room and give me a huge kiss and say he just found my note.
8 Surprise Gift
I know you don't want to spend that much money to let him know you love him, but every so often a surprise gift could be sweet. I once had a Lego key chain mailed to my boyfriend's house because it reminded me of our song. He knew once he saw it why I had sent it to him and loved that I decided to surprise him. It didn't cost much, but it was completely worth what I had paid for it.
9 Cook Dinner
Especially if you don't normally cook for him, or at all, this is a great way to let him know you care! If you've taken the time to learn a recipe and make it for him, he'll appreciate it even if it's something simple. If you know there's something he really loves to eat, if he's a healthy eater, or a picky eater make sure that you're conscious of it so that he knows you've really put thought into it. Imagine coming home and finding your favorite meal cooked, you'd love it, so why wouldn't he?
10 Surprise Notes
Hide little notes all around your house or apartment! If you don't live with him, leave them in his car or in his room the next time you're there. He'll pick it up thinking it's just a regular piece of paper, but soon realize that it's just a tiny reminder of why he loves you. Every time you take a moment to let him know you love him, he remembers how amazing you are and how lucky he is to have you. Don't be afraid to get creative with it! Hide it in his workout equipment or in his favorite video game case, he'll love the little surprise.
11 Make a Playlist
Remember back in the day when we used to make mixed CDs? Well you could always do that for a nostaligic feel, but if you don't want to buy a CD just make a playlist. Add a bunch of songs that remind you of your significant other, put it on his phone, and the next time he plugs in his phone he'll be surprised with this treat.
12 Do Something He Loves
Does he love video games? What about reading? Figure what it is that he loves to do and take part in it! If he loves playing video games and you have no idea what you're doing, just ask him. He'll love teaching you how to do something. If he loves to read, go with him to a book store. Showing him that you're taking interest in what he loves is a great way to show him you love him.
13 Revisit Your Relationship
Do you have a favorite date night? Have you kept all of your movie ticket stubs? I know I have a box filled with things like the hotel key from our first vacation and the program from the first wedding we went to. Take out the box and revisit things from your past. If you don't have something like this, just recreate your first date or watch the best three movies you ever saw together. After a while, relationships can feel stagnant, but this is a great way to remind him how it was in the beginning.
14 Give Him Your Heart
Make him a heart made out of paper. It doesn't have to be fancy and origami, it can be as simple as a heart cut out of paper. When you give it to him let him know that this is just a physical representation of giving him your heart, which you've already done. This is a really sweet and simple way to let him know that you love him and that you're in your relationship no questions asked.
15 Just Tell Him
When is the last time you randomly said "I love you?" This means not when you're getting off the phone, going to bed, after a fight, or before you separate for the day. Next time you're just laying around watching TV or in the car having a conversation say I love you. He might ask you why you're saying it, but he'll appreciate it so much more when you tell him there's no reason behind it. You just want him to know how much you care sometimes.
If you’re looking to add a bit of romance to your relationship, start small with some of these thoughtful reminders. It may seem like a small gesture, but it is not an insignificant one. In what ways do you remind your partner that you love them?
