1. Too Much Tongue

A kiss can be passionate without jamming your tongue down each other's throats. You don't have to be aggressive in order to show how much you're enjoying the make-out session. One of the biggest mistakes people can make while kissing is using their tongue as their only tool. You can show your affection in other ways. It's fine to french, but don't go overboard.

2. Same Old Same Old

You don't want to get stuck in a rut. If you've been kissing the same person for years, you need to try new things. Variety is the spice of life, after all. Switch up your rhythm, bite his lip, or kiss him in a new location. Do anything that will make your make-outs feel fresh.

Frequently asked questions

3. All Dried up

The best kisses involve lips that are soft and smooth. You don't want flakiness to ruin the moment. Chapstick is of the utmost importance when you're in a relationship. You want him to want to kiss you. If your lips are too dry, neither of you will feel like locking lips.

4. Too Handsy

It's difficult to focus on his kiss when his hands are distracting you. If you're not ready for him to go to a certain length, you have to tell him. A kiss can go from sweet to sour with a few unwanted touches. Make sure that you're both on the same page. If he doesn't know how far you're willing to go, he's going to test it for himself. It's better for you two to talk it out first.

5. Not Handsy Enough

Your mouths aren't the only important part of kissing. If his hands are at his sides the entire night, you'll wonder how much he likes you. He can push back a piece of your hair, grasp your waist, or hold you close. You can place your hands on his chest, run your hands through his hair, or place them on the back of his neck. There are plenty of ways to feel more connected.

6. No Air

Forgetting to breathe is never a good thing. You have to know your limits. When it's time for you to come up for air, don't be afraid to do so. Trust me, your man will understand that you need to breathe. It's better to pause for a moment than to lose consciousness.

7. Bad Breath

Buy gum or invest in breath mints. You want to make sure that you're smelling icy fresh before you make your mate come closer. You should also watch what you eat if you know you're about to head over to your boy's house. You don't want to load up on garlic when kissing is in the cards.

8. Avoid Getting Sloppy

Don't mistake being passionate with being sloppy. Whenever you're kissing someone, you don't want your lips, tongue or saliva being all over the place. There is nothing worse than going in for a kiss only to end up with messy, wet kisses all over your mouth and face.

9. Kiss Me Tender

Another thing you want to avoid when kissing is getting too enthusiastic with your teeth when you're kissing someone new. It might seem sexy to bite your partner's lip or suck their lip or tongue, but be gentle. They might even say that they like it a little rough, but don't go in assuming they share your love of hard kissing. You can always work up to it, but going all in without knowing your partner is going to enjoy can be an unpleasant surprise for both of you.

10. Look around

Not everyone kisses with their eyes closed and there's nothing wrong that. However, if your partner has their eyes closed while you kiss, don't be the one looking around or staring hard at your partner. It can make you appear like you're not into it, bored or even come off as creepy.

11. Too Much Passion

Did you ever think you'd read about kisses that are too passionate? Well, I'd just like to remind you that not all of your kisses have to be big Hollywood productions. Pecks on the lips, cheek or forehead are just as sweet and you don't always have to use tons of tongue in order to enjoy a nice kiss with your honey!

Everyone has, or will have, a bad kissing experience. At times, it's totally the man's fault, but you could also be to blame on occasion. Have you ever had a horrible kiss? Tell us all about it.

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

I made out with plenty of good and bad kissers, but honestly the worst I ever had was in high school,he was a serious pot smoker and I hated kissing him even if I did this he was hot af

How come I can only see number 1?

I have never made out with anyone. I am of appropriate age, and have been dating my boyfriend for a year, but because he had a sexual expirience in the past (which he says he regrets, but still) I am nervous to disappoint him. I don't know what to do with my lips, my tongue, how to keep my teeth out of the way. I want to SO bad though, and valentines day is our two year anniversary, where we've talked about even having sex, but how can I do that if I don't even know how to kiss? UHG!
