Communication Tips for a Relationship are hard to follow! Trust me, I've been in a relationship for years and I still have a hard time following communication tips for a relationship! So ladies, open your mind up a little bit and let these communication tips for a relationship sink in a little, after all, you want to make sure that you are communicating with your partner instead of coming to a stand still!

1 Compromise

I hate this word. I'll admit it, I hate compromising, I like things my own way – however, that's not the best communication tips for a relationship to follow. In every relationship, you're going to have to compromise. So ladies, if you're like me, swallow your pride and compromise on some of the big things, it'll pay off in a big way, I promise.

Since I am naturally a competitive person, of course I am going to be competitive in my relationship right? Wrong. T his is one of the hugest communication tips for a relationship that is always overlooked. When you're in a relationship, you don't want to be in a competition.

3 Use 'Stop' Card

This is one of the few communication tips for a relationship that I've actually incorporated into my relationship. When the Better Half and I are in a fight, if one of us are going at it a little too hard, we use the stop card. It's a great way to stop your partner from spilling things they might regret and also a great way to let your partner know that you need a couple minutes. Trust me, this one works!

Girls, we half of the time, we want our men to listen to us, but how often do you truly listen to your man? It's hard right, to listen to another person's issues and feelings? I know, I have a really hard time doing it to, however, if you are a reflective listener, you are going to listen and reflect on what your partner is saying. Relationships are all about communication and if you aren't following communication tips for a relationship at least a little, you won't have a really happy relationship.

5 Keep Body Language in Check

If your partner knows you as well as mine knows me, your body language can give away exactly how you're feeling. Do you prop yourself against a wall with your arms crossed? You're being defensive. Do you tense up and not look at your boy/girlfriend? Well ladies, that's avoiding the subject. Stay calm and keep your body language in the back of your mind, it's definitely one of the biggest communication tips for a relationship that I have to remember!

6 Be Honest, Not Mean

When you're fighting, specifically when you're fighting, you're probably trying to get your honest point across right? It can often come out mean. Why not run through your point in your head before you speak it, that way you can truly know if it is going to be hurtful or not.

7 Focus on Real Issues

When there is a mis-communication, it can be really difficult to focus on just the issue, not all of the other stuff. Leave the other stuff away ladies and just focus on the issue. After all, you want to make sure that you aren't going to make the fight worse but that y'all are talking it out!
