8 Reasons NOT to Celebrate Valentine's Day Whether You Are in a Relationship or Not ...

Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and every window display is filled with red balloons, stuffed bears, flowers and other romantic gifts. Some people are crazy about it and wait for this day every year with joy, others not so much. And those who don’t enjoy it are the ones that have to endure it not only on that specific day but for at least a week before. And of course there are those who have to endure all of their friends that do celebrate it and their comments like “you are single and alone. That’s why you don’t want to celebrate it” or “your relationship is not in a best place, you will celebrate next year”. There are so many reasons why someone doesn’t want to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Everywhere Will Be Packed to Capacity

Are you sure you want to go out on this specific day with your partner where every bar and restaurant will be filled to capacity? You will have had to make reservations weeks ago and make sure not to miss it or else the evening you planned will go wrong in a minute. There is, of course, the option of staying in to celebrate at home.

2

You Don’t Need a Special Day to Celebrate Your Relationship

They say that when you are in love, you celebrate every day. Maybe this is true or not but the sure thing is that you don’t have to wait for that specific day to celebrate. Every other day will do. Just because the rest of the world celebrates their relationship that day it doesn’t mean you have to.

3

You Have Other Things on Your Mind

Maybe it is work, maybe it is a family obligation or something else that troubles you, worries you or even makes you not want to celebrate. Just because people tend to associate this day with the celebration of love, it doesn’t mean you don’t have the right to celebrate something else or spend the day working and all you want for the afternoon is to relax alone at home with a nice book and a glass of wine.

4

Some Men Consider Valentine’s Day as the Perfect Day to Go out and Look for Women

Valentine’s Day is the perfect time of the year for men to feed their ego. They are under the impression that lonely women will be strolling around so desperate for someone to spend Valentine’s Day with that they will fall into their arms with just a smile from them. The result is that you will have to endure a lot of men trying to hit on you.

Some Men See It as an Excuse to Justify That They Act Badly the Rest 364 Days of the Year

There are many men that are a lot of times awful at their relationships, cheating, lying, or anything. And they tend to think that if they act like the perfect gentlemen on this specific day then it is like they get a free pass to whatever stupid thing they might do in the upcoming months of their relationship. Sorry boys, it doesn’t work that way.

You Just Don’t Want to

You might not have any thought out reasons why you don’t want to celebrate. You simply don’t want to. You might not be in the mood. In that case you don’t have to give explanations to anyone about your reasons. Just go on and do your own thing and whatever it is that you want to do and not pay any attention to people who might judge you for it.

7

You Find It Pointless

It is simple. You see no reason why you should celebrate this specific day. You might not have a relationship or you might be in a relationship but you simply see no point in doing the whole date and gifts and other things. You can do those in any other day you want to.

8

The Obligatory Joy is Not What You Feel

Many people are under the impression that you need to be all joyful and nice that day because it is a day devoted to love, right? Wrong. First of all, you might be mad or angry or worried or anything else at that day. Just because it is Valentine’s Day it doesn’t mean you have to pressure yourself to be happy. As for the nice part, treat people how you would like to be treated so you are not really supposed to wait for Valentine’s Day to be nice.

Whether you want to celebrate Valentine’s Day or not is your decision. Do not let your friends, your partner or all those ads to force you into a specific mindset concerning this day. Do what you think is best to do and don’t get swayed by people’s comments about it. It’s just a typical day. If you want to celebrate do it. If not, be patient. It’s a day. It will pass.
