7 Types of Male Opinions That Shouldn't Matter to You ...

It's natural to do little things to try to impress your crush. However, you shouldn't let men control the way you live your life. It's important to do whatever makes you happy, not what you believe will make a man happy. To prove it, here are a few types of male opinions that shouldn't matter to you:

1. How Hairy You Should Be

There's no law that requires you to shave your underarms or your bikini area. If you don't want to put a razor to your skin, then you don't have to. Most men don't shave any areas below the neck, which means they don't understand how frustrating and time consuming hair removal can be. That's why you shouldn't let them tell you where and when to shave.

2. How Your Hair Should Look

You've probably heard that men only like women with long hair. Even though that's a total lie, it shouldn't make a difference what men think, anyway. If you like the way short hair looks on you, or want to cut it to keep it out of your face, then go for it. Don't worry about what guys are going to say.

Frequently asked questions

3. How Heavy You Should Be

Don't lose weight in order to please a man. If you want to exercise, you should do so for your own well being. You wouldn't tell your boyfriend that he's too thick or thin, so why should you allow your boyfriend to say the same cruel things to you? Your weight is none of his business.

4. How Sweet You Should Be

Some men are stuck in the past and expect women to cater to their beck and call. They think they should behave like a "lady," which means they shouldn't curse or complain or argue. When a woman takes charge and tells them what to do, they'll call her a "bitch." Don't take those words to heart, because some men just aren't comfortable with a woman taking the reigns.

5. How Prudish You Should Be

Don't let a man tell you how many people you should sleep with before you settle down. Remember what was said in The Breakfast Club: "If you say you haven't, you're a prude. If you say you have you're a slut. It's a trap." There's no way you can win, so you might as well do what makes you the happiest.

6. What You Should Wear

You don't have to stick to wearing styles you know your crush likes. You should wear what you want to wear. Besides, guys can be hypocritical. They love when women wear skimpy dresses and heels, but then they'll call her slutty. That's why you should wear what you're comfortable wearing, whether that means jeans or a tight skirt.

7. What Job You Should Have

Some old-fashioned men believe that a woman's place is in the kitchen, which we all know is ridiculous. Don't let a man tell you that you should be at home raising the kids, that you should know how to cook, or that you should do all of the housework. It's the twenty-first century, after all.

The only opinion that should matter to you is your own. Has a man ever tried to convince you to do any of these things his way?

Where Thoughts and Opinions Converge

And don't buy a line from the movie industry in #5. If you are becoming serious with a partner, it is reasonable for him or her to to ask the question about sexual expectations in a relationship. It is not a trap and most certainly isn't about winning and losing. It is about determining if your partner has the same mindset before moving forward. "You might as well do what makes you the happiest," is a cop-out and certainly not a positive indicator of a person's character.

For wearing what you want, it should be at a level of where you feel confident and also respect yourself because people will treat you how you treat yourself. If you don't respect your body, than others won't

True true 💃🏻

The commentary on #4 is off. In my experience, good men don't call a woman a "bitch," and the term typically isn't used because a woman merely takes charge. If a man or a woman tells their partner what to do, this is a problem . . . There should be a discussion where both parties can express their needs/expectations. Repeated incidents are probably an indicator that he/she is lacking empathy. Better to move on.

Exactly !

Don't forget how much makeup you can or can not wear

I haven't heard a woman being called a slut in at least 5 years. Times are changing.

It shouldn’t be guys don’t matter only girl do personality. We still have fathers, sons and brothers. There needs to be a level of equality yes not men vs. women... we still need one another at the end of the day.

Nailed it, Holly! Any one or combination of these traits in a guy should be a warning to just say NO, and move on!

Women have unrealistic expectations too
