When you are single and then you start dating, it can be hard, especially if you've been single for a long time. Girls, it's okay that you are single and that you want to dive head first into the dating scene, however, there are some rules that are out there to follow. Take a look below, I promise that they will help make easing into dating a little bit easier.
1 Don't Overthink It!
Seriously. This is a big one. The second that you start to overthink everything about the date is the second that you are going to ruin it. Just go with the flow and be relaxed, everything is fine! When I slipped back into the dating scene after being single for a while, I thought about my outfit, my hair, my breath constantly! Once I let it all go, it was easier to be myself.
Frequently asked questions
2 Give up a Little Bit of Control Sometimes
Yes, I am a huge control freak and you probably are too. You've got to let go of the control a little and give it up to the person that you are on a date with. Let them plan the date – and then on the second date, you can plan it. It'll make sure that you two are on the same page.
3 Comparing Isn't Going to Work
Your ex is an ex for a reason. That means that you've got to let go of him or her and you've got to leave them in the past. You can't keep comparing your current partner against your past. You wouldn't like it if they were doing that to you?
4 Leave the Drama at the Door
No drama girls! I know it's hard to not be dramatic sometimes, but if you are slipping into the dating scene, you've got to leave the drama at the door. People don't want to be involved with someone that is dramatic, that has a hard time keeping their emotions in – especially right off the bat.
5 If It's Not Working? Leave!
If you find that you've been on a few dates with someone and it just isn't working, end it! Why waste both of your time? Seriously, it isn't worth it and you'll be able to find someone that is so much better for you and a better fit. Trust me on this! End it sooner rather than later.
6 Attitude is Everything
You've got to be positive. If you are constantly negative around people you are dating, you'll end up attracting someone negative. Have a positive outlook and really bring that into your dates.
7 Try Not to Stress
Try, try, try not to stress yourself out. I promise it'll be hard, however, if you keep your stress in check, you'll have a better time on your date. I've been on too many dates to count and every single time, I stress myself out, which is hard.
