Hazel and Gus love each other, but their health problems make their relationship difficult. Even though they know that one of them will die, they stay together. Wishes can come true, but they may not always occur in the way you think you want them to. The Genies helped Hazel and Augustus get to Amsterdam, but the real gift wasn't meeting their favorite author. The best part of their trip was the time they spent together. Of course, they didn't need to travel to a fancy location in order to have a great time. They had a great time whenever they were together.

When a friend or boyfriend's life ends, your life doesn't end with it. Even when you love someone with all of your heart, you'll be able to survive without them. It won't be easy, but you can do it. It's what they would want.

Hazel never expected to fall in love with someone like Augustus, but it happened. She wasn't searching for a guy to make her happy. She just happened to stumble upon someone who changed her life. Most of the time, you'll find your perfect man when you least expect it. Life is always surprising.

Even if you're perfectly healthy, you can't tell how much time you have left on this Earth. You should enjoy every moment that you can, and appreciate all of the people around you. Don't take anything for granted, because you're lucky to be alive. Live in the moment.

Anyone can see that Hazel and Gus truly love each other. They didn't drown each other in affection like Isaac and Monica, because they didn't have to do so. They knew how much they cared for each other, and they showed it with their actions.
