Things to Consider before You Stay with a Cheating Boyfriend ...

By Leiann

There are definitely some things to consider before you stay with a cheating boyfriend. Who did he cheat with and how many girls? A person can never "un-cheat", so once it is done, it is forever. You have to search beyond the infidelity and into his heart.

Forgiving someone who has wronged you does not necessarily mean keeping them around so they can wrong you again. When deciding whether-or-not to stay together with a cheater, the following are some things to consider before you stay with a cheating boyfriend.

1 Did They Take Total Responsibility?

No excuses accepted. For example, "Oh, I was totally wasted". This is one of the top things to consider before you stay with a cheating boyfriend.

2 Do They Have a Plan to Not Let It Happen Again?

A promise without a plan is meaningless. Just saying "I will never cheat again" is not very persuasive.

3 Are You Willing to Trust Him Again?

If you are going to be super controlling and paranoid, just end the relationship.

4 Was It a Full-fledged Affair?

Were there text messages, secret e-mails and "business" trips? No mistake. A double life.

5 Did He Sleep with an Ex?

Going back for seconds with an old girlfriend could mean he wants to get back together with her.

6 Has He Promised Not to Contact Her?

Will he promise to never ever phone, write, visit or message her?

7 Remember, Once Trust is Broken, It is Difficult to Regain

There is a wise phrase that goes, "Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me". If he truly loves you, he would never betray you.

8 Second Chances

There are guys that can learn from their mistakes. There are people that do say everybody deserves a second chance.

If you do forgive him, you cannot throw his infidelity in his face every time you have an argument. Be prepared to let the infidelity go.

If you don't forgive him, get dolled up and invite single friends over. Laugh and network. Make new friends. Celebrate the beginning of new opportunities. Do not talk about the breakup. You have new found freedom. Be kind to yourself.
