The longer you stay in an unhealthy relationship, the more altered your mentality will become, and this will go on to have an impact on any future relationships that you have. You will become a much more negative person, which is why this is one of the most obvious reasons you should leave an unhealthy relationship.

Your self-esteem is probably at rock bottom. This is tricky because it is the relationship that is negatively affecting it, but at the same time, you are afraid to leave because it is so low. It is a vicious cycle to be in.

Bad relationships often don’t allow you to truly be yourself and live in your own self-image. You are most likely editing and changing yourself to try to satisfy the wants of your partner, and that is not a good situation to be in.

Much like self-esteem, your partner has probably chipped away at your self-worth to the point that you feel you don’t deserve to feel better than you do right now, but that is absolutely not the case. Don’t fall into the trap of thinking that you are not good enough to have more in life.

At the end of the day, we are all running out of time to do things like start families etc., so you need to have a cold hard look at the relationship to understand that staying in it is only wasting lots of valuable time.

Personal Growth

Staying in a bad relationship that doesn’t allow you to evolve is only going to stunt your personal growth and keep you held back whilst everyone around you is starting to move into a new stage of their lives.

Family and Friends

Bad relationships tend to ostracise you from your friends and family, so at some point, you are going to have to make the decision to get out of your partnership in order to keep your connections to those people who are always there for you no matter what.

Daily Life

The drama and stress of an unhealthy relationship doesn’t just stay at home, you take it everywhere you go including work and social events. At some point, you are going to become emotionally exhausted by the impact it has on your daily life.

Every ounce of focus you have will be directed toward the unhealthy relationship, which means that you will start to miss out in other areas of your life that are deserving of your attention too.

At the end of the day, your happiness is the thing that matters most in your life. If you find that being in the relationship does the opposite of that, then you owe it to yourself to get the hell out and start fresh. It might be scary to consider, but it is the only option to take from this point.
